Chances are you have already been visualizing & planning what your dream wedding looks like for months or even years before you reach out to our Atlanta wedding planning & design team. Some couples know exactly what they are looking for when it comes to wedding florals, while others feel overwhelmed and lost before we step in. Here are 5 common mistakes you can prevent from the get-go with these useful tips!
1. LACK OF RESEARCH
Chances are if your reading this you are thinking ahead which means this mistake may not effect you directly. But, when you reach out to a designer you want to make sure you have some sort of idea of what looks you are drawn to as well as the style you are going for. Your designer won’t be replicating designs but this really helps give you a jumping off point. This allows your designer to take your inspiration and expand upon that to fit your personalities and budget.
2. BEING UNREALISTIC
Are you floral lovers like us? GREAT! But here’s the thing…most couples have no idea what florals actually cost. There are a lot of things to factor into this pricing, including but not limited to: actual floral costs, time, supplies, delivery & hiring additional help for processing & setup. Phew! We ask that couples reach out to us first, talk through their wants & then collaborate with our team on a realistic budget that fits their needs. Also, if your wanting a lot of bigger installation pieces and taller or larger arrangements just know these pieces carry a bigger price tag.
3. NOT THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX
Although personal florals are common for weddings, a lot of couples don’t think outside of that. There are a lot of different ways you can use florals to elevate your design. Don’t be afraid to be creative, even if you can’t find images of what you think could work online. The floral industry is over saturated with the same images and ideas. In order to create a memorable and unique event you may want to instead write down fun ideas you have and share these with your designer to execute.
4. NOT GIVING YOUR DESIGNER CREATIVE FREEDOM
No doubt that every couple has a vision. However, florists and designers are experts in their field. Their opinions should not only be heard and considered, but trusted too. Even if you have a good idea of what you want, take the time to really listen to your florist. Equally, giving creative freedom allows these artists to do their best work without the feeling of someone micro-managing their creations. This creates a great relationship, and also provides you with one of a kind creations that are completely unique to your wedding.
5. NOT SHOPPING SEASONALLY
Flowers that are in season in your area are going to be much more cost effective. If you want to maximize your floral budget choosing florals that are in season and readily available is your best bet. Talk to your designer about this to plan out specific pieces and try not to get dead set on types of florals you see in bouquets or arrangements online without checking if they are in season during your wedding.
Our Atlanta wedding planning team truly hopes these tips help you as you move forward with planning your wedding designs. We can’t wait to hear from you soon!
