We are highlighting one of our favorite wedding venues in the southeast today, The Dewberry. As Charleston wedding planners we think this is the best hotel in town for a wedding celebration. Its mid-century styling that truly celebrates this city’s quintessential style.
Every square inch of The Dewberry reflects a tight-knit collaboration between preservationists, designers, architects, artists and artisans over the course of eight years. Upon entering the lobby you are warmly welcomed with thought-provoking works of art, and attentive staff that are ready to offer up a lux experience.
Off to the left you’ll run into the Living Room. This space is outfitted with a curated reading library, and effortless modern style. This is one of our favorite spots for morning coffee, welcome cocktails for guests, or evening apertif. You’ll also stumble upon the intimate gift shops selling locally made artisanal gifts, and attire. Last time I visited I made sure to grab one of their silk neck scarfs, and a candle featuring the signature hotel scent.
This hotel features 155 guest rooms and suites. Their plush beds feature irish linen bedding, and theres a seasonal in room bars curated by their in-house chef. There is also a botanical print used throughout that feels elevated in nature created by artist, Becca Barnet.
The Citrus Club is one of the hotel’s crowning jewels, offering steepled skyline views. This is the highest rooftop in Charleston, and serves as the perfect refreshing drink spot. Per the name, this bar offers up citrus-inspired cocktails and fresh lite bites. One of our favorites “The Tropical Itch” features Four Rose’s Bourbon, Black Strap Rum, Passion Fruit, Dry Curaçao, Bitters, and a branded back scratcher that doesn’t disappoint. The loaded fries, chicken wings & the citrus salad were favorites as well when it came to food offerings.
The spa at the Dewberry was inspired by Owner, John Dewberry’s Charleston carriage house. It oozes luxury with original details such as its cypress covered walls, and provides a deeply restorative experience through their signature treatments.
Their event spaces provide a modern setting that feels airy and refined which is hard to come by. Their abundance of windows overlooking the city are such a treat for our clients guest experience. You can truly do anything within these ballrooms since they are neutral in nature which is a big plus.
As Charleston wedding planners we truly feel like the Dewberry is the perfect spot to host an elevated wedding weekend experience. We look forward to a return visit soon.
