As Atlanta Wedding Planners, one of our biggest goals in working with our clients is getting to know them personally. We believe wholeheartedly this is the best way to achieve an authentic wedding day experience. However, when a client who we know personally reaches out to work with us, there is an added excitement (and maybe a little bit of pressure!) to execute a flawless day.
Today we are so excited to share photos from Michelle and Dennis’s wedding. Michelle and Associate Planner Christine went to college together. They had the best time reconnecting during the planning process.
While working on this wedding, Christine was reminded of some key elements that make wedding days successful.
Put Trust In Your Vendors
The first, and maybe most important, is trust in your vendor team. Having a vendor team you are confident in is one of the best things you can do to have a stress-free planning process. If you trust your wedding planner and their vision for your day things will be executed flawlessly. One of the best things you can do is listen to their vendor suggestions. Our vendor team included Jessica Gold Photo, Emerald Empire Band, Lairsey Paper Co, Jolie Artistry, Ginger Spice Bakery, and Ginger Rose – talk about a dream team!
Think about timing
Another important aspect of planning a wedding day that feels authentic to you is building a timeline that allows you to spend time on the things that are important to you. For Michelle, that included carving out time to make sure she was able to spend the pre-ceremony time with her bridesmaids and parents. We made sure to include plenty of time in the timeline for first looks with the mother of the bride, father of the bride, and bridesmaids.
It was also very important for Michelle and Dennis to include their faith in their ceremony. Because of this, we opted out of hosting the ceremony at the venue in exchange for hosting in their church. The only thing the couple felt was missing from their ceremony was being able to exchange personal vows. With this in mind, we allowed time during the cocktail hour for the bride and groom to privately share their handwritten vows. Tears were shed.
Michelle is a fellow planner and designer and had a clear vision of what she wanted her day to look like. With that taken care of, they were able to really take their time collaborating to fine tune the details of the wedding day. For her this included making sure their sweet pup Lou made an appearance, beautiful bud vase escort cards, and a late night French fry bar!
Talk Through The Backup Plan
Another huge piece of advice we give to our couples is to not be afraid to talk through your backup plan. Having a well thought out and clear idea of what your backup plan will look like. This will allow you to truly be the bride on the wedding day. As your planners, we are able to have a clear understanding of your expectations and priorities. Then when decision making time comes, we can do this on your behalf and you get to continue sipping champagne with your bridesmaids.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly: have fun and leave the logistics to the planner. As Atlanta wedding planners who are also married, we can vouch on behalf of having a team behind you that orchestrates all of the logistics. Our goal with any client is to provide a fun well-executed day that feels authentic to our couple. We felt like this was definitely achieved with Michelle and Dennis.
Thank you Michelle and Dennis for trusting us with your wedding day. Getting to celebrate you two with your families and friends was an absolute joy and a day we will never forget!
