As destination wedding planners, we are always up for helping couples curate unique and memorable wedding weekend experiences for their favorite people. While traditional rehearsal dinners are timeless, many couples are now looking for creative alternatives to make their celebrations stand out.
One laid-back and interactive option we are currently working on for one of our destination couples is hosting a pizza and pasta making class. We think this is such a perfect way to bring together friends and family in an engaging way. Guests can bond over creating their own Italian dishes while sipping on vino , which adds such a personal touch to the wedding weekend kickoff.
The Mood
We will really set the tone for the evening with everything from our decor, to suggestions for guest fashion. Our dinner design will feature an abundance of ingredients formed into artistic and inspiring arrangements. This will be accentuated with warm candlelight, bottles of locally sourced artisanal wines & tools needed for guest participation. And yes, our client is really have this pasta purse made for herself, which we of course encouraged!
Other Considerations
It was really important to us to find a place with ample space for cooking stations and dining. This could look like a private kitchen, a restaurant with a cooking class setup, or even a spacious outdoor area with portable pizza ovens. Ensuring the venue has all the necessary equipment and enough room for guests to move around comfortably was also really important.
Bringing in a professional chef to guide the cooking process adds a touch of expertise and ensures everything runs smoothly. Our chef will provide demonstrations, assist guests, and share culinary tips and tricks. This will allow our clients to enjoy the evening as their guests would, without feeling like they need to run the show.
The Setup
We will create different stations for making pizza and pasta. For these individual stations, there will be a variety of doughs, sauces, and toppings so guests can customize their pizzas and pastas. Each station will also be well-stocked with all necessary ingredients and utensils.
To help people open up we will work in playful elements to the evening with friendly competitions, such as the best pizza creation or the fastest pasta maker. Our couple will also be providing small prizes for the winners to encourage participation and add to the festive atmosphere.
Duh Dessert
The night will end with an active dessert station featuring Affogato that will open after guests have had plenty time to mingle, and enjoy their culinary masterpieces. The perfect sweet ending to a special evening for D + T.
As Destination Wedding Planners we absolutely love pushing boundaries, and thinking outside of the box for our clients. We truly get a thrill out of coming up with unique experiences for our clients, and their guests. We cannot wait to see this all come together soon.
